There are several active burrows around Cape Coral. This one was by the library. I was there just before nesting season, so the owls weren't doing much other than keeping watch by the entrance to their burrow, and diving back in whenever there was a threat. I was told that females are darker since they stay in the burrow more than males. So in that case, I think the one on the right is a female. There doesn't seem to be much size difference between the two.
Thanks to the Cape Coral Friend of Wildlife for all their efforts in protecting these owls.
