song sparrow

this was taken last summer. the song sparrow was having a great time splashing around in one of the bird baths. behind him is a little floating frog that lights up at night. the sparrow was oblivious!

The composition is excellent, and this charming scene is very creatively framed, as always. V.

He probably thought that his warbling and splashing turned on the light. Do not tell him.

Wonderful image. I agree with Karen. The classic non-birder's comment "it's only a sparrow" just irritates me. I'm pretty good with ID, but have yet to master the many sparrow species. V

I love sparrows. They're often just overlooked as plain birds but I think they're pretty. Very nice capture of this one taking a bath. V.
