I was looking through my PAD for 2013 last night and noticed something.
IT’S ALL TOO BEIGE!
Whereas my early years 2003, 2004, 2005 were really colourful, this one is distinctly colourless on the whole. I’ve had odd moments. Perhaps that’s why I like my mustard pots so much? Anyway the rest has been drab to say the least.
DM reckons it’s a combination of the time of year and a year of rain. He might well be right. It might also be to do with spending my entire waking life reading such riveting things as “Functional biotic homogenization of bird communities in disturbed landscapes” – no offence meant to the bloke who spent months poring over every word, phrase, sentence and paragraph but it’s not exactly Stieg Larsson is it? I’m only half joking when I say I want to slash my wrists with the sheer misery of studying. Honestly, I thought I’d feel fulfilled and in fact all I feel is isolated and floundering. Does that make any sense?
I’ve said it before but on 18th May I’m going to pick up a trashy novel and immerse myself in reading for pleasure.
Anyway, all-in-all I decided that today’s pic must be something colourful and do you know what? I marched round the house – me – the girl who loves her bright colours – and struggled to find anything photogenic and colourful. Maybe it’s my frame of mind. I sat down on the chair in my study and spotted a bottle of nail varnish. I’ve not painted my nails since my wedding day but I DO have quite a few bottles of the stuff lying around gathering dust.
So, how to get a pic – the bottles are scratched and dusty so they won’t do. OK then, the brushes. Oh bugger – they’re all different makes therefore different sizes. And, the fact that they are also mounted into the bottle lids makes them difficult to get close enough together to look good. So, I hit on some movement…
This is the result and I am thrilled to bits with it. I’ve done a colourful pic. Hurrah.
