Looking not at its best, 3 years after retirement and being parked out in the open since. F-104G D-8258 was one of the last Fokker-built Starfighters to enter Dutch service and one of the last to get out of it as well, in 1984. Pictured in 1987, it clearly lacks the J-79. D-8258 wouldn't receive any more love in the years to follow and it was scrapped in the early-1990's. Ypenburg closed in September 1992, making space for new houses to be built. The Cold War was over.
