Black swallowtail (Papillio polyxenes) male, newly emerged
This is one of two black swallowtail butterflies I reared over last winter and which emerged in spring, 2012. This one has left the aquarium where he was reared and is sitting on a cedar tree while drying his wings prior to taking off.
Oh my goodness Christine - this is one of your children, never thought of rear them... You did wonderful, both, to rear them and the picture is just great! Irene
