Winter Survival

A small band of mustangs feed on grass beneath the fresh snowfall in sub-zero temperatures. The image was taken just before the sun went down and the cold was becoming quite intense as I hiked out to my truck. I am often amazed that the wild horses survive without any shelter or water and work very hard to paw away the snow to get at the grass.
