A very pretty wildflower, in the carrot family. It is native to Europe, but was brought to North America long ago, perhaps 200 years back, by settlers who used it for a variety of purposes. It obviously did well here for it has spread across the continent, and is so familiar that many assume it is a native species. It is what botanists term a "naturalized" plant, and I often wonder, when does a naturalized plant become a native plant? After all, many plants we call native were brought here by some of the original settlers to NA, long, long ago.
