Wait you say, this is not a Shelby. And I say you are sort of right. Ken Miles, driver, test driver and engineer for Shelby American was instrumental in stuffing a Ford 289 into the Sunbeam Alpine. This is an example of Shelby inspireation.
Shelby's firm was hired by the West Coast Sunbeam reps to stuff a Ford 260 into an Alpine. George Boskoff (sp?)did the work. Miles did another one on his own, a less sophisticated adaptation that was NOT the version presented to the factory, and adapted for production. Word is that Shelby got a few bucks for each one sold.
