Ornamental crabapples (Malus)

I add this shot from the Arboretum, for a jolt of winter colour! These crabapples are still hanging on the tree, as they are on several others, indicating that they are not palatable to wildlife. All other trees with edible fruit have been stripped of their fruit.

Maybe not particularly palatable but still sometimes eaten at this time of year when food may be in short supply. I saw a flock of about 8 Pine Grosbeaks eating ornamental Crabapple berries on 2 adjacent trees in suburbia yesterday.

It looks lovely with beautiful light, the exterior doesn't look as ours, as I know, it can be made Chinese medicine. V
