2 Piers were installed using the same method as the previous observatory. Dig a hole approx 1.3 metres deep the same diametre as a 200 litre drum - I then cut the top portion off a drum and use it as form work to support concret. Fill with reinforcing bar and concrete. The piers are home made from 20mm boiler tube with 30mm plate steel bottom - they are set into the concrete with threaded rod. This is a design I have used previous and proves to be very stable. The piers are designed to take a G-11 mount and are used for photography only.
