We have spent a lot of time fixing and fiddling on our airplanes, so it was time to spend a day flying for a change. I did my Biennial Flight Review (BFR) with Bloke. It was a beautiful day and we went over to Anahuac. On the way back in the tried the LPV 30 approach into LaPorte. That was fun. At the end of the day as the sun was setting it struck me that it would be a perfect night for some flying. I can't remember the last time I went night flying. So about an hour after sunset I took the Swift around the patch for some landings. If you have never been in the front seat of an airplane at night, you need to try it. The view outside is amazing. Going down the final approach with the two rows of runway lights in front of your airplane is really cool. When I got back to the hangar I snapped this shot of the illuminated instrument panel in the Swift. The blue rectangle is a Garmin 430 GPS/NAV/COMM and the orange boxes are a KX-125 NAV/COMM.
