Unlike Washington DC that kept its downtown buildings below the height of the capital building, Austin's Congress Avenue has gone from generally low rise buildings to skyscrapers each trying to out do the other. Today you have to stand in the steet to get a view of the capital from the Ann Richards Bridge.
