On Saturday, I participated in the Help-Portrait Las Vegas event that coincided with events around the
world on the same date. Local photographers, makeup artists, stylists and volunteers joined together
to transform 50+ homeless youth into rock-star models for the day. I was fortunate enough to
photograph 29 models over a 4-hour period and can safely say they are some of the most amazing
subjects I've ever worked with. Most of these youth have nothing ... no family ... no one to depend
upon ... except for the teen shelter that provides a place of safety and firm foundation to change
their lives. I fell in love over and over again with the incredible strength, hope, loyalty, and
willingness to still trust that resides in each model I met on Saturday. My only hope is that my
portraits can do justice to their amazing souls and undeniable beauty. Here's one photo from the
event. Yes, this girl is homeless ... yes, she's stunning ... and yes, she'd been crying. My heart
broke seeing the pain in her eyes. I don't know her story, but for right now, she's safe.
