November 27, 2012

We spent the day in Hershey and Harrisburg. The Hershey Musuem was interesting.By the time we finished that I had been exposed to chocolate for long enough. In Harrisburg we visited the National Civil War Museum first. They have some interesting pieces on display. I thought the ambulance was most interesting. It is said to be the only one surviving and it is in great shape. It is hard to imagine thousands of these on each side during a battle carrying away the wounded. It was said there was a train of them 17 miles long after one battle. The highlight of the day was the free (FREE!) tour of the Pennsylvania State Capitol. Our guide was really interesting and knowledgeable. I am not a state capitol expert, but it is obvious that the PA capitol is quite something. It is very ornate and fun to look at. Today's photo is looking up in the rotunda. The House and Senate chambers were stunning. This is probably one of the neatest things we have seen on our road trip. We have a few more days left to go. We have clocked over 2000 miles so far. This is fun.
