Thanks for your comments. The red is inedible because it's Poison Oak. It turns red in the dry summer, before loosing it's leaves altogether by this time of year. I was lying on the ground a foot or less from the red. Here, things are green and deciduous trees grow because of the nearby stream. My concrete culvert pipe, another Challenge entry, is just a few dozen feet away. Most of So Cal is dry and brown by the end of summer because we get all of our rain from late December to April.

Lovely woods scene. Things are sure nice and green where you are! I'm afraid we're mosly in shades of yellows and browns here other than the nice green pines here and there.

Interesting how the light almost seems to come from underneath the bushes. The backlighting in the forest beyond with the silohettes of the trees is very effective.
