TS-M: HMS Bounty: 1960 - 2012

HMS Bounty was lost at sea in Hurricane Sandy,
October 29th, 2012, along with its captain, Robin Walbridge,
and a crew member, Claudene Christian, who, ironically, was
said to be a descendant of the true story's Fletcher Christian.

This artistic image was composed from two of our personal photos:
the Bounty from when the ship last visited Duluth, Minnesota, in 2010, as it
toured Lake Superior, and a Lake Superior sunrise.

The Bounty had been scheduled to return in 2013,
and many who loved the ship were saddened to hear of the tragedy.

HMS Bounty was a replica of the historical Bounty (1789), and
had been built in 1960 for the 1962 Movie, "Mutiny on the Bounty",
starring Marlon Brando.

Afterwards, it was used in many films including part of the
Johnny Depp series, "Pirates of the Caribbean", and sailed on tours
for educational purposes right up until its last voyage.

The helm of this Bounty was the original used in an earlier 1935
version of "Mutiny on the Bounty", starring Clark Gable.

Oh my Lord!
Thank you Larry and Linda. I loved your original photo of the 3 masted HMS Bounty entering Duluth harbor, which truely was both beautiful and an excellent photo. Being a simpler sailor, I closely followed her recent loss off Cape Hatteras this week, and was very sorry to hear the captain and one other crew were never recovered. But this image--blending of the ship, floating between mirrored, peaceful cloud patterns, with the emerging sunlight, is so etherial, left me speechless and brought instant tears to my eyes. This image is a fitting memorial to the proud ship, as if entering its own ship-heavens for the rest of eternity. I would wish this image to be seen by all the families and crew, past and present, so as to reinforce their memories forever more.
Respectfully,
Bob Cuberly
