As a stranger I arrived,
As a stranger again I leave.
May was kind to me
With many bunches of flowers.
The girl spoke of love,
Her mother even of marriage, -
Now the world is bleak,
The path covered by snow.

Winter journey, Franz Peter Schubert (1797-1828)

Poignant image and words. You all are getting a lot of snow, my brothers tell me. Be safe and blessed.

We have a lot of wind and rain. Heard on the news that West Virginia is getting snow - at about 2 inches an hour. They said accumulations could be up to 2 feet! Hope you are not snowed in. You are making the most of it with this beautiful, elegant and superbly composed image! V

Elegant! In tracking Sandy on my home front I picked up forecasts of snow in the mountains of WV with hoping you'd capture it! VV

Can't believe you have snow! But at least you got a lovely image for a thoughtful haiku. V

Snow way! Not ready for the white stuff yet...think we're due in a couple of days for it here. Love how it looks like the leaf just dragged itself into the frame before giving up. Probably just a footprint, but the other popped into my head when I saw it.
Helen Betts29-Oct-2012 20:53
I find this quite a poignant image, elegant in its simplicity. I can't believe you have a snow accumulation already! V.
