Alone with wolves and darkness......

Had never seen a wolf from Grizzly Overlook, the traditional Hayden Valley location to watch the Canyon pack. This time, arriving late afternoon, I was firmly resolved to stay til complete darkness. One after the other watchers left, emptying the overlook. Exactly at sunset, two very playful blacks emerged from the trees, soon to be followed by the famous white alpha female. She took the lead moving to the West, but had to wait all the time until the youngsters joined her. The wolves in the picture are at approx 1 mile (1.6 km) out, zero light remains, taken with Sigma 50-500 (new Bigma), and a 2x Tamron extender - yes, on a tripod, indeed. Say 20 min later the three animals crossed the road, me at 50/60 yards, car lights extinguished, my excellent Leitz binocular helping to improve visibility. Alone with the wolves and darkness......
