Now is the time of the sparrows. They are passing through our region in great numbers, and I'm feeling very fortunate to see small flocks of them in my garden this autumn. Juncos, as here, are common, and often appear with white-crowned and white-throated sparrows, all of them searching for seeds, both those that spill from the feeders, and the seeds on plants such as goldenrod, aster, coneflower, etc.
