The eaglets looked healthy when most of the other nests were failing. But after three weeks these chicks were gone as well. On several occasions I saw the parents deliver road-kill squirrels to the nest, suggesting whatever fish they depend on had not yet arrived. I'm probably 200 meters away and mom is giving me the eye. "I don't like that guy's looks," she says.
