Slime mould (Hemitrichia sp)

Larose Forest

These are tiny dot-like clusters on rotting logs. According to Barron's guide to mushrooms, these are "the young sporangia (fruitbodies) of the slime mold, and cannot be reliably told to species until they mature." Well, I doubt I could tell even then! I'm grateful to just get a genus name. I quite like slime moulds as they are usually quite extraordinarily beautiful in colour and shape.

An other eye-opener for me Christine. Great shot and info.
