The elaborated frame above one of the windows of the türbe (mausoleum), and the late-Seljuk style decoration around it. The inscription identifies the grave monument as that of Koca Hüsrev Paşa, the Ottoman governor (at the time) of Van and Amida (Diyarbakır). It is almost certainly not the work of Mimar Sinan; it is thought to date from 1587, the year that Hüsrev Paşa died during a military campaign in western Iran. The inscription gives also the name of the individual who commissioned the türbe: Mardinli Şaban bin Abdullah (Şaban, son of Abdullah, from Mardin).
It is very questionable whether Hüsrev Paşa was ever buried here, since he had Mimar Sinan built a grave monument for him in Istanbul (the ‘Hüsrev Paşa Türbesi’ in the Yenibahçe neighbourhood / Fatih district).
