At Hovenweep, we did the loop counter-clockwise. We never go very quickly. Sharon has become a master ruin spotter with the binoculars. She even scoped out the large nest in one of the alcoves in the small canyon at Hovenweep. We found out later from a ranger that it is the nest of a Great Horned Owl that nests there every spring. We saw plenty of prairie dogs on the drive in so an owl would do well here.
