Parrot lick.

Parrots and parakeets apparently eat unripe fruit. There is less competition for the food, but it also does not give them all the minerals that they need. Every morning, thousands of them show up at various spots like this one to lick the rock for those minerals. There can, of course, be some "discussion" as to who gets the good spots. The parrot at the lower left is not actually falling: he spent most of the time happily hanging upside down to do his licking.

Very cool capture. I'm sure this is also filled with raucous banter.

I own a maroon bellied conure named Jimmy and if I had my my wisk he'd be right there getting healthy and coming home after. If you let him go and he comes back to you that is real love.

How lucky that you got to see these assorted parrots! I'd give my eye teeth to see such a fabulous group! BV

How interesting! Very cool photo of them in action. We have Quaker *Monk* parakeets here and they are very, very noisy so I imagine these guys were too. V
