Merchants Green Stamps

Thank you to Bruce Hirsh for contributing this great old photo. In South Florida, these stamps were earned by purchasing groceries from the Food Fair grocery store chain and there may have been other retailers who offered them. According to Bruce, Publix stopped their green stamp program on May 27, 1989.

I remember these, and there were also some red stamps, and maybe yellow ones. I don't remember which store gave which, but the city I grew up in (Bay City, MI) had a couple Krogers, a Ray's Food Fair, A&P, and Vescio's, which I think might have been a small local chain. I remember there was a very tiny store (which I think was torn down in the late 60s) where you could redeem the stamps for smaller items .
