The steamer was built in 1886 and was handsomely refurbished.

SHIP CHRONOLOGY
1886 Launched as “Königin Carola”
1919 Name changed to PS “Diesbar”
1926 - 1927 Major reconstruction with the inclusion of an upper deck, name changed to PS “Pillnitz”
1943 Service during the war with a camouflage paint scheme. The steamer is used to evacuate people from Hamburg, following the bombings of the city
1945 The steamer sustains light damage during the bombing of the city
1952 Name changed to PS “Weltfrieden” (World Peace)
1963 - 1964 nstallation of a new electrical on-board system
1966 -s 1967 Repairs are made to the steam engine, a salon is added on the front deck
1979 The ship is taken out of service, due to a defective boiler
1981 - 1983 General overhaul, including a replacement of the boiler
1993 Historically accurate reconstruction, the name is changed back to PS “Pillnitz”

A grand old paddle steamer, beautifully captured..we still have a few left in Australia but there are not many left in the world..V
