Princess Flash

Deudorix smilis, Lycaenidae
Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.
The Princess Flash lays its eggs on the fruit of the Strychnine Tree (Strychnos lucida) – shown, the larvae boring into the fruit to feed on its contents, and pupating inside the fruit.
Adults are rarely seen. This individual was collected as a pupa and returned to its host plant after emergence.

A fascinating shot and history. Very effective close-up with the round fruit prominent.
