Three Call-A-Head stalls were recently installed in the park for public restroom facilities until new facilities can be provided after about 40 years of park maintenance neglect and 4 or 5 years of recent park renovations were completed to essentially provide a new NYU fountain plaza for graduation ceremonies. When the renovations began, it was decided the park could not accommodate NYU's bursting graduation classes and the ceremonies were moved to Yankee Stadium. Consequently, due to awful unhealthy restroom facilities, new facilities are now being built under low budget priorities with no firm completion date. Meantime public restroom facilities can only be found in local fast food and coffee house restaurant facilities, while NYU building restroom facilities are not accessible without an valid NYU ID card.
These conditions, along with the lack of free internet wifi connections in the park, reflect the NYC/NYU relationship in a demonstration of a lack of concern for basic community and public facilities.
