Trinity Chapel III

Canterbury cathedral

The tombs of the Black Prince (left) and King Henry IV with his wife, Joan of Navarre, (right) are just visible in this view of the Trinity Chapel. Also on this view it can just be appreciated that the east and west sections of the cathedral are not in true alignment. Our tour guide explained that this was deliberate and symbolised Jesus's head tilting slightly to one side while he was hanging on the cross at the time of the crucifixion.
