Blazing Star (Liatris Spicata)

The suggestions have been made that this is Blazing Star (liatris spicata). Steve first called this to my attention and others have confirmed it. Enough references were presented to get me to change my mind. LOL. Thanks for being persistent, Steve!

Its a great photograph. Its interesting that before I saw what camera you took it with I thought 'Thats the V1'
There is something about the results from this small sensor that amazes me every time I see a picture taken with it. V+

I found it! it's a Blazing Star, or Liatris, perhaps a Prarie Blazing Star.

Great colors.
Steve Thuman27-Jul-2012 01:56
I am doubting it's a lupine. The leaves are wrong and the top of the flowers aren't lupine like. I did a quich lookup for it, and none of the photos of Blue Pod Lupines look like these. But I don't know what to suggest they are. I'll look some more. In the mean time, whatever they are they sure are beautiful!

Like this one very much. THe somewhat low key approach really highlights the blossoms.
