20120721 068 SERIES - Giant Swallowtail.jpg

My Backyard

Reportedly, the three largest North American Butterflies are the King Swallowtail, the Tiger Swallowtail and the Giant Swallowtail. They all have wingspans of 85 to 140 mm (3.37 - 5.5 inches.) I was fortunate to find two, the Giant and the Tiger, in my backyard recently. Following are two images of the Giant Swallowtail, a first for me. Tomorrow, I propose to post images of the Tiger Swallowtail. To see this image, Click "Previous".
