Audrey and I have been visiting this church whenever we were in New Mexico for over 20 years.
We found out in the summer of 2010 that the church is resurfaced every year.
Starting the first Monday in June, the church parishoners and volunteers from
literally all over the world show up to help. It goes on for 2-3 weeks.
We put it on the calendar for 2011, and helped for three days that summer,
and came back again this summer and helped for two days.
It is an amazing experience for anyone. I am not a member of any church, but I find it very rewarding.
The parishoners are very quiet and humble in their approach to there work on the church
and I appreciate them allowing Audrey and I to photograph them working.
Audrey and I approach the photography with a deep sense of respect for the church
its people and its history.
Show up with a kind and willing heart, and they will put you to work. It is a Win/Win.
