Every once in a while cool things happen. We have a junior ranger program at Fort Clatsop which is mainly oriented to kids, but it is available to all ages. Today Ellen, a 93 year old lady from Portland, completed the program. She seemed to have a good time doing it. The word spread quickly that she was going to get sworn in as a junior ranger and pretty soon all hands were on deck for the event. Here Ranger Ester is administering the junior ranger oath. Sorta heart warming, isn't it?

It is an oath to be aware of the environment and preserve our national parks.
