This Fringe-Eared Oryx Calf was born on Tuesday May 22th, 2012.
Fringe-Eared Oryx Calf. 10 Days Old and already showing nubs of the horns.
Now larger at 10 days old it is sometimes a little more difficult to hide.
In an area that gets very few visitors, I quietly observed all morning
and caught the calf in a mid morning stretch for a few minutes.
The Oryx calf will stay hidden during daylight until the mother finds
it at night to feed and care for it. Then at daybreak the mother will
wander away, so not draw any attention to the newborn. Having
no odor newborn will be cared for in this manner for 2 to 3 weeks.
