Fringed polygala (Polygaloides paucifolia)

Also known as Flowering Wintergreen and Gaywings. This tiny woodland plant really stands out by virtue of its bright colour. Sometimes they form carpets of blossoms, but more often than not, they are found in small stands, dotted around here and there near wooded trails. This was photographed in the Marlborough Forest.
