Steamboat "B.C. Phillips"

Captain Phillips ran steamboats up and down the rivers of the area. He had a house in Lumber City as did Capt. John L. Day. Cap'n Joe Willcox built and ran steamboats also. His house was in Jacksonville, Ga. It looks like the date on this is 1913/23?? Steamboats ran for about a hundred years on the river. The first ran up the river in 1829 and made it all the way to Macon, Ga. [Photo Credit: Roy McGregor]

The writing on this photograph was done by my grandmother, Bertha Wilbanks Lowery who lived in Lumber City, GA which was not far from the Ocmulgee River. I have other photos with her writing on them with 1914, 1915, etc. on them. I feel like the date for this photo would be 1913.
