The Island of San Michele
The 1469 Church of San Michele in Isola by Mauro Codussi and the 1530 Capella Emiliana with a dome
Since the early 1800s, burial within Venice proper has been prohibited for sanitary reason. This island has the only cemetery in Venice. Foreigners buried here include Igor Stravinsky & Sergei Diaghilev.
