This may look like a lake but the space beyond the hut is the Ham at Tewkesbury – a field often used for grazing sheep.
Today it is an extension of the River Avon.
The road this side of the railings is under a few inches of water.
The Ham floods almost every year so this is no great surprise as the heavy rainwater coming off the Welsh mountains is on its way to the Severn Estuary.
What is weird is that we are still officially in drought conditions!
