120407_163733_23693 Sometimes, Not Even Photoshop Can Help (Sat 07 Apr 12)

At home, Illawarra, NSW

Lilly, the alleged Maltese-Chihuahua mix (although actually she's mostly wolf), is not... how can we put it delicately? She's not photogenically blessed. Neither am I, of course, which is why there are no self portraits in my gallery. But Lilly presents a special level of challenge.

Nonetheless, I set myself the challenge of finding some way, some how, of getting her a decent photo. In doing so, I did a series of studies which is not easy given that she hardly ever sits still.

Unfortunately, thus far the outcomes have not given rise to optimism. But on the bright side... I think that any subsequent shots that I take of her would have to make her look good in comparison.

For in this case, truly, all Adobe's horses and all Adobe's men (even Deke McClelland himself), couldn't put this shot together again.

(Postscript from the future, 26 May 2023, just over 3 months after she died. Lilly became a lot less scruffy over the years, and cuter and more photogenic. Essentially, she grew into her body. It's interesting to compare shots like this with those from only a few years later, where there is a very noticeable difference. Unfortunately the most noticeable difference of all is that she is no longer here... and her being missed is one thing that is unlikely to change.)

Lily, don't pay any attention to him - you are a very cute doggie with lots of character.

That is the funniest thing I have ever read. Love it....

I like this. It's a good pet portrait. I don't see what's wrong with it. She looks adorable and yes, full of energy. The tongue movement is a nice touch. V.

Nice one! Anytime a canine can be captured with a camera, it is a good shot!
