A large, conspicuous, and noisy bird of the Pacific Coast, the Black Oyster Catcher can be found along rocky shores from Alaska to Baja California. It is one of the most distinctive birds in all of North America: a large, all-black shorebird, with the heavy, bright-red bill typical of oyster catchers.
