Battle of the Buffleheads

It was a perfect storm: one female Bufflehead and several males. One male had to repeatedly chase off all other males which came too close. These shots are from just a few of the chases which took place.

Amazing series Penny! I happened to witness a similar situation amongst mallards.... the mating ritual of ducks is brutal!!!
