While shooting the many plants in bloom I glimpsed one plant that looked very different.
It was not the typical trillium. Instead of leaves of three, this one had FOUR leaves, sepals
and petals. How cool is that?! My hiking friend Rich Stevenson found a foursome painted
trillium along a trail in the mountains a few years back so they do occur, but are a rarity.
This is called tetramerous.
Finding a rare plant is exciting and finding a rare form among the rare species is really special!
