These two owls were on the marsh north of High Pines. The 400mm telephoto lens makes them seem much closer than they were. In fact, they very likely could not see each other due to the grasses etc. but I was standing above them thus allowing this shot.

The foreground bird is the "green over purple" bird that has been here for a couple of weeks. The background bird may be new today; it is marked with a thin vertical purple line (I have enquired as to its background and will update this with any new info). Closeups of these two birds follow.
