25 years ago a man named Rick Hansen electrified the world with his Man in Motion Tour, logging more than 40,000 kilometers and crossing 34 countries in his wheelchair as he raised awareness of spinal cord injuries. In the process during that 26 month journey,he raised $26 million for spinal cord research and became a folk hero across the land, following in the footsteps of national hero Terry Fox,who died before he could complete his cross Canada Marathon of Hope run for cancer.
It was a thrill to see him here in our little town of Beaumont yesterday.A very inspiring individual.
