A new day, a new minibus journey, a new gang of new best friends. A rather bumpy ten hours in a mini bus, we had plenty of time to become acquainted. So we all went to the Plain of Jars sites together the next day. Kathy and her man were only on one of those whistlestop trips out of Malaysia, Dan and Cath were medics on a very long backpacking honeymoon (hang on! YOu are supposed to work your arse off when you are a junior doctor), Neil was a teacher on a similarly long trip (long service leave for Aussie teachers), and myself... well.
This is Site 2a, I think. A bit of a climb so shortly after lunch, but an atmospheric little site with a few decent size jars in a clearing. I think we voted for our favourite site at the end, and all sites came out pretty equal. And yet, here we are, keen to see more jars. Give us jars (and perhaps a Beer Lao at the end of the day) and we'll be happy.
