Phantom FG.1 XV590/AX of 43sqdn, departing from Eindhoven to go back to its homebase RAF Leuchars, after a stop-over in the Netherlands. Pilots are waving to the gathered spotters. 43 and 111sqdn were the only RAF-units using the FG.1-version of the Phantom II. The FG.1 originally was meant for the Royal Navy and had an adjusted nose gear for carrier operations. Like so many other RAF Phantoms, XV590 was scrapped decades ago.
