Afternoon Commute

Foster City, CA

Since I don't have a *really* big lens, and the fact that I already knew that the resulting image would be short on exposre (I also wanted to run as high a shutter speed as possible), it took a good hour+ of slowly advancing towards a large flock of Dunlins in order to grab this shot.

I'll have to try this shot again seeing as how the bird's wings aren't completely 'stopped in time'.

Nikon D70 ,18-200mm, f/3.5-5.6

other sizes: small medium large auto

"Run away! Run away!" A very dramatic shot, worth the patience. Though it would be an interesting effect to freeze the wings, the motion blur better captures the sense of chaos of the mass launch, in my opinion.

Very nice! That sure is a lot of them. And your patience paid off!

Good catch of a disorganised take off.
