Snowflake taken from a drift. Partially sublimated. Most of the snow is cylindrical/hexagonal, but the one in the center is a more typical snowflake. Polarized light has shown the thickness of the flake. There are 3 "rotations" or retardations of the birefringence in the axis coming toward you, alternating colorless with blue.
