a great image extracted from what, to most of us, would have looked like nothing in particular
Yiannis Pavlis21-Dec-2012 22:39
Impressive picture, you transformed a beautiful scene to a spectacular composition .

I'll say: Great title and B/W composition. Or you could say: I'm upside down on my mortgage.

"We're not in Kansas anymore, Toto!" This place looks as if a tornado has hit it. That shed has enormous character, too. Great use of sepia. V

You made this bleak scene into a piece of art. A wonderfully put together photograph with great tones. V

Brilliantly titled and superbly rendered in sepia to evoke depression.
Chris Spracklen29-Jan-2012 22:14
A sad image in many respects, Marcia, but a very well taken one, as ever! *V*
Steve Mockford29-Jan-2012 21:24
Powerful composition Marcia. I agree with Peter that this is reminiscent of work by some of the Farm Security Administration photographers.

This is a great image, Marcia, reminiscent, for me, of the work of Walker Evans and Dorothea Lange, and the other photographers of scenes of The Great Depression. You've brought out the desolation, the loss of hope and dreams so well. Your composition is superb, as is your processing and title. V+

You have portrayed this stark region in such a compelling manner. I feel a quite desperation yet an underlying strength from this work. You do the great stuff, Marcia. ~V~
Wim Ensie29-Jan-2012 12:58

Austere, remote, definitely the end of the line! It leavese me with a haunting feeling. A great place to expressively capture as you did. Love the monochrome too.
