Evan Dalton reported seeing a full adult male yesterday (1/17)on Store/Spooner Pond across from Cordage Park late in the afternoon. Today (1/18) I went at 8:30am to find it with no success. Because winter ducks move around the small ponds across the Plymouth downtown area, I checked Jenny's Mill Pond and because I was anticipating a bird with adult male plumage, I missed this bird at first. As I went over the Gadwalls, Hoodies, Ring-necks and Mallards, (secretly hoping to find the Blue-winged Teal seen a couple of weeks ago), I picked up this photogenic first-winter male. That makes two male Shovelers in Plymouth - unusual!
